The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away at a time when we had our fill of the two black things, water and dates. In their version of the hadith from Sufyan, the wording is that we never had our fill of the two black things.
و حدثنا أبو كريب حدثنا الأشجعي ح و حدثنا نصر بن علي حدثنا أبو أحمد كلاهما عن سفيان بهذا الإسناد غير أن في حديثهما عن سفيان وما شبعنا من الأسودين
