Anas bin Malik reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left the slain of Badr for three days, then he came to them, stood over them, and called out to them, saying, "Abu Jahl bin Hisham, Umaya bin Khalaf, Utba bin Rabia, Shayba bin Rabia, have you not found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true."Umar heard the words of the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, how can they hear, and how can they answer, when they have already become rotting corpses?"He replied, "By the One in whose hand my soul rests, you do not hear what I say better than they do, but they are unable to answer."Then he ordered that they be dragged away, and they were cast into the well of Badr.
