Whenever a serious matter troubled the Prophet ﷺ, he would say, and he then mentioned the same wording as the hadith of Muaz from his father, with the addition, "There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Noble Throne."

Muslim narrated the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, from Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Harith, from Abu Aliyah, from Ibn Abbas, that he used to make this supplication at times of distress. Mahdi bin Maymun differed from him regarding Yusuf, narrating it as a mursal report.
I say, the hadith of Muaz, that is, Ibn Hisham, was already mentioned in Sahih Muslim, and its text is that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say at times of distress, "There is no god but Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the mighty throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the noble throne."This hadith is among those that Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, did not respond to.
