I will only tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say. He would say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, stinginess, decrepit old age, and the torment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its piety and purify it, for You are the best to purify it. You are its Guardian and its Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humility, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وإسحق بن إبراهيم ومحمد بن عبد الله بن نمير واللفظ لابن نمير قال إسحق أخبرنا و قال الآخران حدثنا أبو معاوية عن عاصم عن عبد الله بن الحارث وعن أبي عثمان النهدي
لا أقول لكم إلا كما كان رسول الله ﷺ يقول كان يقول اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل والجبن والبخل والهرم وعذاب القبر اللهم آت نفسي تقواها وزكها أنت خير من زكاها أنت وليها ومولاها اللهم إني أعوذ بك من علم لا ينفع ومن قلب لا يخشع ومن نفس لا تشبع ومن دعوة لا يستجاب لها
