Hammad bin Zayd reported,

There was a man who used to keep close company with Ayub and learn from him, but then Ayub lost track of him. People said, "Abu Bakr, he has attached himself to Amr bin Ubayd."Hammad said, One day I was with Ayub, and we had gone out early to the market, when the man came face to face with him. Ayub greeted him and asked after him, then said to him, "I have been told that you have attached yourself to that man."Hammad said, He named him, meaning Amr.The man replied, "Yes, Abu Bakr. He brings us remarkable things."Hammad said, Ayub said to him, "It is precisely those remarkable things that we flee from," or "that we shun."
