I came in to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever. I touched him with my hand and said, "Messenger of Allah, you are burning with a severe fever."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Indeed, I suffer fever as two men among you would suffer."I said, "That must be because you have a double reward."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No Muslim is afflicted by any harm, whether illness or anything else, without Allah causing his sins to fall away because of it, just as a tree sheds its leaves."The phrase "I touched him with my hand" is not present in the narration of Zuhayr.
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة وزهير بن حرب وإسحق بن إبراهيم قال إسحق أخبرنا و قال الآخران حدثنا جرير عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن الحارث بن سويد
دخلت على رسول الله ﷺ وهو يوعك فمسسته بيدي فقلت يا رسول الله إنك لتوعك وعكا شديدا فقال رسول الله ﷺ أجل إني أوعك كما يوعك رجلان منكم قال فقلت ذلك أن لك أجرين فقال رسول الله ﷺ أجل ثم قال رسول الله ﷺ ما من مسلم يصيبه أذى من مرض فما سواه إلا حط الله به سيئاته كما تحط الشجرة ورقها وليس في حديث زهير فمسسته بيدي
