Masruq reported,

I visited Ayesha and found Hassan bin Thabit with her, reciting poetry to her in which he was praising a woman in his verses. He said, "A chaste and dignified woman, never suspected of any wrong, who rises hungry rather than feed upon the flesh of unsuspecting women."Ayesha said to him, "But you are not like that."Masruq said, I asked her, "Why do you allow him to enter upon you when Allah has said, 'And the one among them who took on the greater share of it will have a terrible punishment' [Nur 24:11]?"She replied, "What punishment is harsher than blindness? He used to defend the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and respond to those who satirized him."
