Ayesha reported,

Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was given a choice between two courses, he would take the easier of the two, so long as it involved no sin. But if it involved sin, no one kept farther away from it than he did. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never took revenge for his own sake, only when the sanctity of Allah was violated.
