Abu Salama said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A true dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. So if any of you sees something he dislikes, let him spit lightly to his left three times and seek refuge with Allah from its evil, and it will not harm him.'"Abu Salama then said, "I used to have dreams that weighed on me more heavily than a mountain, but from the moment I heard this hadith I paid them no mind."In Thaqafi's version it reads, "Abu Salama said, 'I used to have dreams...'" The narrations of Layth and Ibn Numayr do not include Abu Salama's remark at the end of the hadith. Ibn Rumh added in his transmission of this hadith, "and let him turn over onto his other side."
و حدثناه قتيبة ومحمد بن رمح عن الليث بن سعد ح و حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا عبد الوهاب يعني الثقفي ح و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير كلهم عن يحيى بن سعيد بهذا الإسناد وفي حديث الثقفي قال أبو سلمة فإن كنت لأرى الرؤيا وليس في حديث الليث وابن نمير قول أبي سلمة إلى آخر الحديث وزاد ابن رمح في رواية هذا الحديث وليتحول عن جنبه الذي كان عليه
