I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanding the killing of dogs, saying, "Kill snakes and dogs, and kill the snake with two white streaks on its back and the short-tailed snake, for they cause blindness and bring about miscarriage in pregnant women."Zuhri said, "We consider this to be from their venom, and Allah knows best."Salim said that Abdullah bin Umar said, "I continued for some time killing every snake I saw. Then one day, while I was chasing a house snake, Zayd bin al-Khattab, or Abu Lubabah, passed by me as I was pursuing it and said, 'Hold on, Abdullah.'I replied, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that they be killed.'He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ later forbade killing house snakes.'"
و حدثنا حاجب بن الوليد حدثنا محمد بن حرب عن الزبيدي عن الزهري أخبرني سالم بن عبد الله
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يأمر بقتل الكلاب يقول اقتلوا الحيات والكلاب واقتلوا ذا الطفيتين والأبتر فإنهما يلتمسان البصر ويستسقطان الحبالى قال الزهري ونرى ذلك من سميهما والله أعلم قال سالم قال عبد الله بن عمر فلبثت لا أترك حية أراها إلا قتلتها فبينا أنا أطارد حية يوما من ذوات البيوت مر بي زيد بن الخطاب أو أبو لبابة وأنا أطاردها فقال مهلا يا عبد الله فقلت إن رسول الله ﷺ أمر بقتلهن قال إن رسول الله ﷺ قد نهى عن ذوات البيوت
