She was among the first women emigrants who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and she was the sister of Ukkasha bin Mihsan, one of the Banu Asad bin Khuzayma.He said, She informed me that she once brought a son of hers to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had not yet reached the age of eating solid food, and she had pressed his uvula upward fearing he had a throat ailment.Yunus explained, "Alaqat means she squeezed it, fearing he was suffering from udhrah, an inflammation of the throat."She said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Why do you press your children's throats with this practice? You should use this Indian wood," meaning costus, "for it contains seven cures, among them a remedy for pleurisy."

وكانت من المهاجرات الأول اللاتي بايعن رسول الله ﷺ وهي أخت عكاشة بن محصن أحد بني أسد بن خزيمة قال أخبرتني أنها أتت رسول الله ﷺ بابن لها لم يبلغ أن يأكل الطعام وقد أعلقت عليه من العذرة قال يونس أعلقت غمزت فهي تخاف أن يكون به عذرة قالت فقال رسول الله ﷺ علامه تدغرن أولادكن بهذا الإعلاق عليكم بهذا العود الهندي يعني به الكست فإن فيه سبعة أشفية منها ذات الجنب
