The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said... and Ismail bin Salim narrated to me, Hushaym narrated to us, Ubaydullah bin Abu Bakr reported from his grandfather Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the People of the Book greet you with salam, respond by saying, 'And upon you.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى أخبرنا هشيم عن عبيد الله بن أبي بكر قال
ا قال رسول الله ﷺ ح و حدثني إسمعيل بن سالم حدثنا هشيم أخبرنا عبيد الله بن أبي بكر عن جده أنس بن مالك أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا سلم عليكم أهل الكتاب فقولوا وعليكم
