A man from the Ansar had a son born to him and wanted to name him Muhammad. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Ansar have done well. Name your children with my name, but do not take my kunya as your own."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى ومحمد بن بشار قالا حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة سمعت قتادة عن سالم
أن رجلا من الأنصار ولد له غلام فأراد أن يسميه محمدا فأتى النبي ﷺ فسأله فقال أحسنت الأنصار سموا باسمي ولا تكتنوا بكنيتي
