Abu Uthman Nahdi reported,

Abu Uthman said, A letter from Umar reached us while we were in Azerbaijan with Utba bin Farqad, or perhaps in Sham. It read, "To proceed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade silk except this much, two fingers' worth."Abu Uthman added, We had no doubt that he meant the decorative borders. And he did not mention Abu Uthman's remark.
