The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Purification is half of faith. Saying 'Praise be to Allah' fills the scale. Saying 'Glory be to Allah' and 'Praise be to Allah' fills, or fill, what is between the heavens and the earth. Prayer is light. Charity is proof. Patience is illumination. The Quran is either an argument in your favor or against you. Every person sets out in the morning and trades with his soul, either freeing it or destroying it."
Muslim reported it from Ishaq bin Mansur, from Habban bin Hilal, from Aban, from Yahya, from Zayd bin Salam, from Abu Salam, from Abu Malik, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, "Purification is half of faith, and 'Praise be to Allah' fills the scale," and in it, "Prayer is light, and the Quran is a proof."Muawiya bin Salam differed from him, narrating it from his brother Zayd, from Abu Salam, from Abdul-Rahman bin Ghanm, that Abu Malik related this to them.
Sahih. But I say, what Imam Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said, that the text is sahih with no defect in it in the narration of Muslim, the apparent view is that there is a disconnection in it. This is because Ibn Hajar mentioned in Taqrib that Abu Salam transmits with irsal, and he did not explicitly state direct hearing here. Ibn Hajar also mentioned Daraqutni's statement in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib that between him and Abu Malik stands Abdul-Rahman bin Ghanm, and he remained silent on it.Alai said in Jami Tahsil, volume 1, page 272, that some scholars gave preference to Daraqutni's statement, since Abu Malik Ashari died in the plague of Amwas in the year eighteen. They have said regarding the narration of Abu Salam from Ali, Huzaifa, and Abu Dharr that it is mursal, so his narration from Abu Malik is even more likely to be mursal, to the end of his words, may Allah have mercy on him.
