Anas bin Malik reported,

One day I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and found him sitting with his companions, speaking to them, with a band tied around his stomach. Usama said, "I am uncertain whether it was over a stone."I asked some of his companions, "Why has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tied a band around his stomach?"They replied, "Out of hunger."So I went to Abu Talha, the husband of Umm Sulaym bint Milhan, and said, "Father, I have seen the Messenger of Allah with a band tied around his stomach. I asked some of his companions about it, and they said it was from hunger."Abu Talha then went in to my mother and asked, "Do you have anything?"She replied, "Yes, I have a piece of bread and some dates. If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ comes to us alone, we can satisfy his hunger, but if he comes with others, it will not be enough for them."He then mentioned the rest of the hadith with its full account.
