I witnessed the Eid prayer with Ali bin Abu Talib. He began with the prayer before the sermon and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from eating the meat of our sacrificial animals after three days."

Muslim narrated, from Abdul-Jabbar, from Ibn Uyayna, from Zuhri, from Abu Ubayd, "I was present for Eid with Ali, and he began with the prayer before the sermon, and said, 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, forbade us to eat from the meat of our sacrifices after three days.'"I say, this is something in which Abdul-Jabbar erred, because Humaydi, Ali bin Madini, Qanabi, Ahmad bin Hanbal, Ishaq bin Rahawayh, Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, Abu Khaythama, Ibn Abu Umar, Qutayba, Abu Abdullah, and others all reported it as mawquf from Ibn Uyayna.It is possible that it escaped Muslim's notice that Ibn Uyayna narrated it as mawquf, perhaps because it did not reach him except through the narration of Abdul-Jabbar. Also, the marfu version of the hadith is sahih from Zuhri, raised to the Prophet by Salih, Maamar, Yunus, the nephew of Zuhri, and Malik, from the narration of Jareer and Zubaydi, from Zuhri.As for Bukhari, he narrated it only from the hadith of Yunus, and did not address the hadith of Ibn Uyayna.
