Abu Thalaba Khashani reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, we live in the land of a people who are People of the Book, and we eat from their vessels. It is also a hunting land, and I hunt with my bow, with my trained dog, and with my dog that is not trained. Tell me what is lawful for us in all this."He replied, "As for what you mentioned about being in the land of a people who are People of the Book and eating from their vessels, if you can find vessels other than theirs, then do not eat from theirs. But if you find none, then wash them and eat from them. As for what you mentioned about being in a hunting land, whatever you take with your bow, mention the name of Allah over it and eat. Whatever you take with your trained dog, mention the name of Allah over it and eat. And whatever you take with your dog that is not trained, if you reach it while it is still alive and slaughter it properly, then eat."This is the wording of Ibn Mubarak's report, except that Ibn Wahb's report does not mention hunting with the bow.
