I heard my father say, while in the presence of the enemy, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The gates of Paradise are beneath the shades of swords."A man of shabby appearance stood up and asked, "Abu Musa, did you yourself hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say this?"He replied, "Yes."The man then returned to his companions and said, "I bid you peace." He broke the sheath of his sword and threw it away, then walked with his sword toward the enemy and fought with it until he was killed.
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى التميمي وقتيبة بن سعيد واللفظ ليحيى قال قتيبة حدثنا و قال يحيى أخبرنا جعفر بن سليمان عن أبي عمران الجوني
سمعت أبي وهو بحضرة العدو يقولا قال رسول الله ﷺ إن أبواب الجنة تحت ظلال السيوف فقام رجل رث الهيئة فقال يا أبا موسى آنت سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول هذا قال نعم قال فرجع إلى أصحابه فقال أقرأ عليكم السلام ثم كسر جفن سيفه فألقاه ثم مشى بسيفه إلى العدو فضرب به حتى قتل
