Awf bin Malik said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The best of your rulers are those whom you love and who love you, those for whom you pray and who pray for you. The worst of your rulers are those whom you hate and who hate you, those whom you curse and who curse you."We said, "Messenger of Allah, should we not then rise against them?"He replied, "No, not so long as they maintain the prayer among you. No, not so long as they maintain the prayer among you. Whoever has a ruler set over him and sees him committing some act of disobedience to Allah, let him hate the disobedience to Allah that he commits, but let him not withdraw his hand from obedience."Ibn Jabir said, I asked Ruzayq when he narrated this hadith to me, "By Allah, Abu Miqdam, did he truly narrate this to you? Did you really hear this from Muslim bin Qurza, who said that he heard Awf say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say it?"He then knelt down on his knees, faced the qibla, and said, "Yes, by Allah, besides whom there is no god, I heard it from Muslim bin Qurza, who said that he heard Awf bin Malik say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say it."
