Salama bin Yazid Jafi asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Prophet of Allah, what do you think if rulers rise over us who demand from us what is due to them but withhold from us what is due to us? What do you command us to do?"The Prophet turned away from him. He asked again, and the Prophet turned away from him again. Then he asked a second time, or a third, and Ashath bin Qays pulled him back.The Prophet then said, "Listen and obey. Their burden is theirs to carry, and your burden is yours."
و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا شبابة حدثنا شعبة عن سماك بهذا الإسناد مثله وقال فجذبه الأشعث بن قيس فقال رسول الله ﷺ اسمعوا وأطيعوا فإنما عليهم ما حملوا وعليكم ما حملتم
