Abdul-Rahman bin Sahammasa reported,

I came to Ayesha to ask her about something, and she said, "Where are you from?"I replied, "I am a man from the people of Egypt."She asked, "How did your governor treat you in this campaign of yours?"He said, "We have no complaint against him. If a man among us lost his camel, he would give him a camel. If he lost his slave, he would give him a slave. And if anyone needed provisions, he would give him provisions."She said, "What he did to my brother Muhammad bin Abu Bakr will not prevent me from telling you what I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say in this house of mine. He said, 'O Allah, whoever takes charge of any affair of my Ummah and is harsh with them, be harsh with him. And whoever takes charge of any affair of my Ummah and is gentle with them, be gentle with him.'"
