Saad bin Abu Waqqas reported,

Ubayy took a sword from the spoils of war and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "Give this to me." He refused, and Allah revealed, "They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, 'The spoils belong to Allah and the Messenger.'" [Anfal 8:1]

و حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن سماك

عن مصعب بن سعد عن أبيه قال

أخذ أبي من الخمس سيفا فأتى به النبي ﷺ فقال هب لي هذا فأبى فأنزل الله عز وجل {يسألونك عن الأنفال قل الأنفال لله والرسول}
