Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf and Saeed bin Musayab reported that Abu Hurairah said, "A man from among the Muslims came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the masjid and called out to him.He said, "Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery."The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him, so the man moved around to face him directly and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery."Again the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him, until the man had repeated this four times. When he had testified against himself four times, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him over and asked, "Are you insane?""No," he replied.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Are you married?""Yes," he said.So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take him away and stone him."Ibn Shihab said, "Someone who heard Jabir bin Abdullah told me that he said, "I was among those who stoned him. We stoned him at the prayer ground, and when the stones tormented him he fled. We caught up with him at the rocky ground and stoned him there.""
و حدثنيه عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن الدارمي حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري بهذا الإسناد أيضا وفي حديثهما جميعا قال ابن شهاب أخبرني من سمع جابر بن عبد الله كما ذكر عقيل
