Thakeef were allies of Banu Aqeel. Thakeef captured two men from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured a man from Banu Aqeel, taking with him the camel known as al-Adba.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him while he was in fetters and the man called out, "Muhammad!"So he came to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"The man said, "Why have you taken me, and why have you taken the camel that outstrips the pilgrims' mounts?"He replied, "To make the matter weighty, I have seized you for the offense of your allies, Thakeef." Then he turned away from him.The man called after him, "Muhammad! Muhammad!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and tender-hearted, so he returned to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"The man said, "I am a Muslim."He said, "Had you said this when you were still in control of your affair, you would have succeeded completely." Then he turned away. The man called out again, "Muhammad! Muhammad!" So he came to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"The man said, "I am hungry, so feed me, and thirsty, so give me drink."He said, "This is your need." Then the man was ransomed in exchange for the two captives.A woman from the Ansar had been captured, and al-Adba had been seized along with her. The woman was kept in fetters, and the people used to rest their livestock in front of their houses at night. One night she slipped out of her bonds and came to the camels. Whenever she approached a camel, it would growl, so she would leave it, until she came to al-Adba, which did not growl. It was a well-trained, docile she-camel. She mounted its hindquarters, urged it on, and set off. The people noticed her absence and pursued her, but she outran them. She had vowed to Allah that if He delivered her on its back, she would slaughter it. When she arrived in Medina, the people saw the camel and said, "This is al-Adba, the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said that she had vowed that if Allah delivered her on its back, she would slaughter it. They came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned this to him.He said, "Glory be to Allah! What a wretched way she has rewarded it. She vowed to Allah that if He delivered her on its back, she would slaughter it. There is no fulfillment of a vow made in disobedience, nor in what the servant does not possess."In the narration of Ibn Hajar, "There is no vow in disobedience to Allah."
