I heard him say, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and Numan pointed with his two fingers toward his ears, "The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between the two are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against these doubtful matters keeps his religion and his honor intact, and whoever falls into them falls into the unlawful, like a shepherd grazing his flock around a protected pasture, who is likely to let them stray into it. Be aware that every king has a protected pasture, and the protected pasture of Allah is what He has forbidden. Be aware that in the body there is a piece of flesh, and if it is sound the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt the whole body is corrupt. It is the heart."
