Talq said to Latawus, "Come with us to the son of Rafi bin Khadij so you may hear the hadith from him on the authority of his father from the Prophet ﷺ."Latawus rebuked him and said, "By Allah, if I knew that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden it, I would not have done it. But the one who is more knowledgeable about it than them, meaning Ibn Abbas, told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'For a man to lend his land to his brother as a gift is better for him than taking a fixed rent for it.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى أخبرنا حماد بن زيد عن عمرو أن
لطاوس انطلق بنا إلى ابن رافع بن خديج فاسمع منه الحديث عن أبيه عن النبي ﷺ قال فانتهره قال إني والله لو أعلم أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عنه ما فعلته ولكن حدثني من هو أعلم به منهم يعني ابن عباس أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لأن يمنح الرجل أخاه أرضه خير له من أن يأخذ عليها خرجا معلوما
