When the news of Abu Sufyan's death reached Umm Habiba, she called on the third day for a yellow perfume and rubbed it on her forearms and the sides of her face, saying, "I had no need for this, but I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for more than three days, except for a husband, for whom she mourns four months and ten days.'"

لما أتى أم حبيبة نعي أبي سفيان دعت في اليوم الثالث بصفرة فمسحت به ذراعيها وعارضيها وقالت كنت عن هذا غنية سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول لا يحل لامرأة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر أن تحد فوق ثلاث إلا على زوج فإنها تحد عليه أربعة أشهر وعشرا
