Anas bin Malik reported,

The Prophet ﷺ had nine wives. When he divided his nights among them, he would not return to the first wife until the ninth night had come around. They used to gather every evening at the house of the wife whose turn it was.One night he was at Ayesha's house when Zaynab came in. He extended his hand toward her, and Ayesha said, "This is Zaynab." The Prophet ﷺ withdrew his hand, and the two women began to argue until their voices grew loud. Then the call to prayer was made.Abu Bakr happened to pass by at that moment and heard their voices. He said, "Messenger of Allah, go out to the prayer, and throw dust in their mouths."The Prophet ﷺ went out, and Ayesha said, "Now the Prophet ﷺ will finish his prayer, and Abu Bakr will come and do such and such to me."When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, Abu Bakr came to her and spoke to her harshly, saying, "Are you doing this?"
