The Jews used to say that if a man came to his wife from behind into her front passage and she then conceived, the child would be cross-eyed. So the verse was revealed, "Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth as you wish" [Baqarah 2:223].

أن يهود كانت تقول إذا أتيت المرأة من دبرها في قبلها ثم حملت كان ولدها أحول قال فأنزلت {نساؤكم حرث لكم فأتوا حرثكم أنى شئتم}
