I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "They will leave Madinah in the best state it has ever been, with none frequenting it but wild creatures," meaning the beasts of prey and birds. "Then two shepherds from Mazina will set out heading for Madinah, calling out to their sheep, but they will find it deserted. When they reach Thaniyyat al-Wada, they will fall down on their faces."
و حدثني عبد الملك بن شعيب بن الليث حدثني أبي عن جدي حدثني عقيل بن خالد عن ابن شهاب أنه قال أخبرني سعيد بن المسيب أن
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول يتركون المدينة على خير ما كانت لا يغشاها إلا العوافي يريد عوافي السباع والطير ثم يخرج راعيان من مزينة يريدان المدينة ينعقان بغنمهما فيجدانها وحشا حتى إذا بلغا ثنية الوداع خرا على وجوههما
