He was sitting with Abdullah bin Umar during the time of civil strife when a freedwoman of his came to greet him and said, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, I have decided to leave. Times have become hard for us."Abdullah said to her, "Sit down, you silly woman. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'No one endures its hardship and severity without my being a witness or an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى قال قرأت على مالك عن قطن بن وهب بن عويمر بن الأجدع
أنه كان جالسا عند عبد الله بن عمر في الفتنة فأتته مولاة له تسلم عليه فقالت إني أردت الخروج يا أبا عبد الرحمن اشتد علينا الزمان فقال لها عبد الله اقعدي لكاع فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا يصبر على لأوائها وشدتها أحد إلا كنت له شهيدا أو شفيعا يوم القيامة
