Abu Aqeel reported,

I was sitting with Qasim bin Ubaydullah and Yahya bin Saeed when Yahya said to Qasim, "Abu Muhammad, it is unseemly for someone of your stature and importance to be asked about a matter of this religion and have no knowledge of it to offer, nor any resolution," or he said, "no knowledge and no way out."Qasim replied, "And why is that?"Yahya said, "Because you are the descendant of two leaders of guidance, the sons of Abu Bakr and Umar."Qasim said to him, "What is more unseemly than that, in the eyes of anyone who understands his duty toward Allah, is that I should speak without knowledge or take from one who is not trustworthy."He fell silent and gave him no answer.

وحدثني أبو بكر بن النضر بن أبي النضر، قال حدثني أبو النضر، هاشم بن القاسم حدثنا

أبو عقيل، صاحب بهية قال

كنت جالسا عند القاسم بن عبيد الله ويحيى بن سعيد فقال يحيى للقاسم يا أبا محمد إنه قبيح على مثلك عظيم أن تسأل عن شىء من أمر هذا الدين فلا يوجد عندك منه علم ولا فرج - أو علم ولا مخرج - فقال له القاسم وعم ذاك قال لأنك ابن إمامى هدى ابن أبي بكر وعمر. قال يقول له القاسم أقبح من ذاك عند من عقل عن الله أن أقول بغير علم أو آخذ عن غير ثقة. قال فسكت فما أجابه.
