Bakr bin Abdullah reported,

I was sitting with Ibn Abbas near the Kaabah when an Arabi came up to him and said, "Why is it that I see your cousins giving people honey and milk to drink, while you serve them nabidh? Is this out of need on your part, or out of stinginess?"Ibn Abbas replied, "Praise be to Allah, it is neither need nor stinginess. The Prophet ﷺ came riding on his mount with Usama behind him, and he asked for something to drink. We brought him a vessel of nabidh, and he drank from it and gave what was left to Usama. He said, 'You have done well and acted nobly. Continue to do so.' We do not wish to change what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded."
