When this verse was revealed, "Believers, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet" [Hujurat 49:2], to the end of the verse, Thabit bin Qays sat in his house and said, "I am among the people of the Fire," and he kept away from the Prophet ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ asked Saad bin Muaz, "Abu Amr, what is the matter with Thabit? Is he ill?"Saad replied, "He is my neighbor, and I am not aware of any illness affecting him."So Saad went to him and mentioned to him what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said.Thabit said, "This verse was revealed, and you all know that I am among those who raise their voices the loudest above the voice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I am among the people of the Fire."Saad mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Rather, he is among the people of Paradise."Qatan bin Nusayr narrated to us, Jafar bin Sulayman narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas bin Malik, who said, Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas was the orator of the Ansar. When this verse was revealed, and he related a hadith similar to that of Hammad, but his version does not mention Saad bin Muaz.Ahmad bin Saeed bin Sakhr ad-Darimi narrated this to me, Hibban narrated to us, Sulayman bin Mughira narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said, When the verse "Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet" [Hujurat 49:2] was revealed, and he did not mention Saad bin Muaz in the hadith.Hurayim bin Abdul-Ala al-Asadi narrated to us, Mutamir bin Sulayman narrated to us, saying, I heard my father mention from Thabit, from Anas, who said, When this verse was revealed, and he related the hadith without mentioning Saad bin Muaz, and he added, "We used to see him walking among us, a man from the people of Paradise."

لما نزلت هذه الآية {يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا ترفعوا أصواتكم فوق صوت النبي} إلى آخر الآية جلس ثابت بن قيس في بيته وقال أنا من أهل النار واحتبس عن النبي ﷺ فسأل النبي ﷺ سعد بن معاذ فقال يا أبا عمرو ما شأن ثابت اشتكى قال سعد إنه لجاري وما علمت له بشكوى قال فأتاه سعد فذكر له قول رسول الله ﷺ فقال ثابت أنزلت هذه الآية ولقد علمتم أني من أرفعكم صوتا على رسول الله ﷺ فأنا من أهل النار فذكر ذلك سعد للنبي ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ بل هو من أهل الجنة و حدثنا قطن بن نسير حدثنا جعفر بن سليمان حدثنا ثابت عن أنس بن مالك قال كان ثابت بن قيس بن شماس خطيب الأنصار فلما نزلت هذه الآية بنحو حديث حماد وليس في حديثه ذكر سعد بن معاذ و حدثنيه أحمد بن سعيد بن صخر الدارمي حدثنا حبان حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة عن ثابت عن أنس قال لما نزلت {لا ترفعوا أصواتكم فوق صوت النبي} ولم يذكر سعد بن معاذ في الحديث و حدثنا هريم بن عبد الأعلى الأسدي حدثنا المعتمر بن سليمان قال سمعت أبي يذكر عن ثابت عن أنس قال لما نزلت هذه الآية واقتص الحديث ولم يذكر سعد بن معاذ وزاد فكنا نراه يمشي بين أظهرنا رجل من أهل الجنة
