Saeed bin Jubayr said, "We departed along with Ibn Umar until we reached Jam, where he led us in the Maghrib and Isha prayers with a single iqamah. Then he turned to us and said, 'This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer at this very place.'"
و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير حدثنا إسمعيل بن أبي خالد
قال سعيد بن جبير أفضنا مع ابن عمر حتى أتينا جمعا فصلى بنا المغرب والعشاء بإقامة واحدة ثم انصرف فقال هكذا صلى بنا رسول الله ﷺ في هذا المكان
He also reported the hadith of Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Abu Ishaq, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, combined Maghrib and Isha at Jam.He said, "In my view, this is a mistake on the part of Ismail. A group of narrators contradicted him, Shubah, Thawri, Israil, and others, who reported it from Abu Ishaq, from Abdullah bin Malik, from Ibn Umar. Ismail, though he is trustworthy, these narrators are more reliable than him regarding the hadith of Abu Ishaq, and Allah knows best."
