The Messenger of Allah ﷺ practiced continuous fasting at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, so a group of the Muslims also fasted continuously. When word of this reached him, he said, "If the month were extended for us, I would continue fasting in such a way that those who go to extremes would abandon their excess. You are not like me," or he said, "I am not like you. I remain through the night with my Lord feeding me and giving me drink."

واصل رسول الله ﷺ في أول شهر رمضان فواصل ناس من المسلمين فبلغه ذلك فقال لو مد لنا الشهر لواصلنا وصالا يدع المتعمقون تعمقهم إنكم لستم مثلي أو قال إني لست مثلكم إني أظل يطعمني ربي ويسقيني
