The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Ramadan, then struck with his hands and said, "The month is like this, and this, and this," folding down his thumb on the third time. "So fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If it is obscured from you, then complete thirty days."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو أسامة حدثنا عبيد الله عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ ذكر رمضان فضرب بيديه فقال الشهر هكذا وهكذا وهكذا ثم عقد إبهامه في الثالثة فصوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته فإن أغمي عليكم فاقدروا له ثلاثين
