The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "After me, among my Ummah," or "There will be after me among my Ummah, a people who recite the Quran but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass out of the religion as an arrow passes through its target, then they will not return to it. They are the worst of creation."Ibn Samit said, "I met Rafi bin Amr Ghifari, the brother of Hakam Ghifari, and I asked him, 'What is this hadith I heard from Abu Dharr, such and such?' and I mentioned to him this hadith."He replied, "I too heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
حدثنا شيبان بن فروخ حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة حدثنا حميد بن هلال عن عبد الله بن الصامت
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن بعدي من أمتي أو سيكون بعدي من أمتي قوم يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز حلاقيمهم يخرجون من الدين كما يخرج السهم من الرمية ثم لا يعودون فيه هم شر الخلق والخليقة فقال ابن الصامت فلقيت رافع بن عمرو الغفاري أخا الحكم الغفاري قلت ما حديث سمعته من أبي ذر كذا وكذا فذكرت له هذا الحديث فقال وأنا سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ
