The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered the Ansar and asked, "Is there anyone among you who is not from you?"They replied, "No, except for a nephew of ours."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The nephew of a people is one of them."Then he said, "Quraysh have only recently left the days of ignorance and have just suffered hardship, and I wished to console them and win their hearts. Are you not pleased that the people return with worldly goods while you return to your homes with the Messenger of Allah? If the people were to travel through one valley and the Ansar through another, I would travel through the valley of the Ansar."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى وابن بشار قال ابن المثنى حدثنا محمد بن جعفر أخبرنا شعبة قال سمعت قتادة يحدث
جمع رسول الله ﷺ الأنصار فقال أفيكم أحد من غيركم فقالوا لا إلا ابن أخت لنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن ابن أخت القوم منهم فقال إن قريشا حديث عهد بجاهلية ومصيبة وإني أردت أن أجبرهم وأتألفهم أما ترضون أن يرجع الناس بالدنيا وترجعون برسول الله إلى بيوتكم لو سلك الناس واديا وسلك الأنصار شعبا لسلكت شعب الأنصار
