The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The example of the miser and the charitable giver is like two men wearing iron coats of mail. When the charitable giver intends to give in charity, his coat expands upon him until it covers his footprints. But when the miser intends to give in charity, his coat tightens upon him, his hands are drawn up to his collarbones, and every ring clings to the next."The narrator said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "He struggles to widen it but is unable to do so."
و حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أحمد بن إسحق الحضرمي عن وهيب حدثنا عبد الله بن طاوس عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ مثل البخيل والمتصدق مثل رجلين عليهما جنتان من حديد إذا هم المتصدق بصدقة اتسعت عليه حتى تعفي أثره وإذا هم البخيل بصدقة تقلصت عليه وانضمت يداه إلى تراقيه وانقبضت كل حلقة إلى صاحبتها قال فسمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول فيجهد أن يوسعها فلا يستطيع
