We were commanded to give in charity. He said, we used to carry loads for hire to earn something to give. Abu Aqeel donated half a saa, and another person brought something more than that. The hypocrites said, "Allah has no need of this man's charity, and the other one only did what he did for show." Then this verse was revealed, "Those who criticize the believers who give charity voluntarily and ridicule those who find nothing to give except their meager efforts" [Tawbah 9:79].Bishr did not pronounce the word "al-muttawwiin".

أمرنا بالصدقة قال كنا نحامل قال فتصدق أبو عقيل بنصف صاع قال وجاء إنسان بشيء أكثر منه فقال المنافقون إن الله لغني عن صدقة هذا وما فعل هذا الآخر إلا رياء فنزلت {الذين يلمزون المطوعين من المؤمنين في الصدقات والذين لا يجدون إلا جهدهم} ولم يلفظ بشر بالمطوعين
