When news came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of the killing of Ibn Haritha, Jafar bin Abu Talib, and Abdullah bin Rawaha, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down with grief visible on his face.Ayesha said, I was watching through a crack in the door. A man came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, the women of Jafar," and he mentioned their weeping. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to go and forbid them from doing so. The man went, then came back and reported that they had not obeyed him. He commanded him a second time to go and forbid them. He went, then returned and said, "By Allah, they have overwhelmed us, Messenger of Allah."She claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Go and throw dust into their mouths."Ayesha said, I said to him, "May Allah humble you. By Allah, you are not carrying out what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded you, yet you have not spared the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from exhaustion."
و حدثنا ابن المثنى وابن أبي عمر قال ابن المثنى حدثنا عبد الوهاب قال سمعت يحيى بن سعيد يقول أخبرتني عمرة أنها سمعت
لما جاء رسول الله ﷺ قتل ابن حارثة وجعفر بن أبي طالب وعبد الله بن رواحة جلس رسول الله ﷺ يعرف فيه الحزن قالت وأنا أنظر من صائر الباب شق الباب فأتاه رجل فقال يا رسول الله إن نساء جعفر وذكر بكاءهن فأمره أن يذهب فينهاهن فذهب فأتاه فذكر أنهن لم يطعنه فأمره الثانية أن يذهب فينهاهن فذهب ثم أتاه فقال والله لقد غلبننا يا رسول الله قالت فزعمت أن رسول الله ﷺ قال اذهب فاحث في أفواههن من التراب قالت عائشة فقلت أرغم الله أنفك والله ما تفعل ما أمرك رسول الله ﷺ وما تركت رسول الله ﷺ من العناء
