The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four traits, whoever has all of them is a pure hypocrite, and whoever has one of them has a trait of hypocrisy in him until he abandons it. When he speaks, he lies. When he makes a covenant, he betrays it. When he makes a promise, he breaks it. And when he disputes, he behaves wickedly."However, in the narration of Sufyan it says, "And if he has one of these qualities, he has a quality of hypocrisy in him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن نمير ح و حدثنا ابن نمير حدثنا أبي حدثنا الأعمش ح و حدثني زهير بن حرب حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن عبد الله بن مرة عن مسروق
قال رسول الله ﷺ أربع من كن فيه كان منافقا خالصا ومن كانت فيه خلة منهن كانت فيه خلة من نفاق حتى يدعها إذا حدث كذب وإذا عاهد غدر وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا خاصم فجر غير أن في حديث سفيان وإن كانت فيه خصلة منهن كانت فيه خصلة من النفاق
