While Umar bin Khattab was addressing the people on Friday, Uthman bin Affan came in. Umar made a pointed remark about him, saying, "What is the matter with some men who come late after the call to prayer?"Uthman replied, "Commander of the Faithful, when I heard the call I did no more than perform ablution and then come straight here."Umar said, "Ablution as well? Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When any of you comes to the Friday prayer, let him perform a full bath'?"

بينما عمر بن الخطاب يخطب الناس يوم الجمعة إذ دخل عثمان بن عفان فعرض به عمر فقال ما بال رجال يتأخرون بعد النداء فقال عثمان يا أمير المؤمنين ما زدت حين سمعت النداء أن توضأت ثم أقبلت فقال عمر والوضوء أيضا ألم تسمعوا رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا جاء أحدكم إلى الجمعة فليغتسل
