Ibrahim reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said to Abdullah bin Masud, "Recite to me."He replied, "Shall I recite to you when it was revealed to you?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "I love to hear it from someone else."So he recited to him from the beginning of Surah an-Nisa until he reached the verse, "How will it be when We bring from every nation a witness and We bring you as a witness against these people?" [Nisa 4:41]. Then the Prophet ﷺ wept.Masaar said, Maan narrated to me from Jafar bin Amr bin Hurayth, from his father, from Ibn Masud, who said that the Prophet ﷺ said, "A witness over them as long as I remain among them," or "as long as I was among them." Masaar was uncertain which wording was used.
