The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a reed mat which he would set aside as a private space at night to pray in, and people began to pray along with his prayer. During the day he would spread it out for general use. One night they gathered in large numbers, so he said, "People, take on only those deeds you can sustain, for Allah does not tire until you tire. The deeds most beloved to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are few." Whenever the family of Muhammad ﷺ took up a practice, they kept to it firmly.
