Abu Ishaq reported,

I asked Aswad bin Yazid about what Ayesha had told him concerning the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.She said, "He would sleep during the first part of the night and revive the latter part with worship. Then, if he had need of his wife, he would fulfill his need and go back to sleep. When the first call to prayer came," she said, "he sprang up." By Allah, she did not say, "He got up." "And he poured water over himself." By Allah, she did not say, "He performed ghusl," though I know what she meant. "If he was not in a state of major impurity, he performed ablution as a man does for prayer, then prayed two units."
