Uthman bin Affan entered the mosque after the sunset prayer and sat alone, so I went and sat with him. He said, "Nephew, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever prays the night prayer in congregation, it is as though he stood half the night in prayer, and whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation, it is as though he prayed the entire night.'"

Muslim narrated the hadith of Uthman bin Hakeem from Ibn Abu Amra from Uthman from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, "Whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation," from the hadith of Thawri and Abdul-Wahid from him. Abdul-Rahman bin Amr bin Abu Amra narrated it from his uncle Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Amra from Uthman as his own statement. He said, Hushaym followed them in agreement, but Marwan bin Muawiya and Abu Ishaq Fazari and Umar bin Ali Muqaddami differed from them, narrating it from Uthman as stopped, not raised to the Prophet. Muhammad bin Ibrahim Taymi likewise narrated it from Ibn Abu Amra from Uthman as his own statement. Malik and Thaqafi and Abu Amra said, from Yahya, Abbar raised it from Yahya, so it cannot be used as an argument against those who reported it as stopped, for they are more reliable in memory.
