One night we waited for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for the late evening prayer. He came out to us after a third of the night had passed, or later. We did not know whether something had occupied him with his family or some other matter.When he came out, he said, "You are waiting for a prayer that no other religious community waits for. Were it not that it would burden my nation, I would pray it with them at this hour."Then he ordered the muadhin, who called the iqamah, and he led the prayer.
و حدثني زهير بن حرب وإسحق بن إبراهيم قال إسحق أخبرنا وقال زهير حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن الحكم عن نافع
مكثنا ذات ليلة ننتظر رسول الله ﷺ لصلاة العشاء الآخرة فخرج إلينا حين ذهب ثلث الليل أو بعده فلا ندري أشيء شغله في أهله أو غير ذلك فقال حين خرج إنكم لتنتظرون صلاة ما ينتظرها أهل دين غيركم ولولا أن يثقل على أمتي لصليت بهم هذه الساعة ثم أمر المؤذن فأقام الصلاة وصلى
